A 14-year-old girl told police a stranger tried to lure her into his car Monday afternoon.

The girl told Pueblo police Cpl. Charles Burnham she was walking in the area of Lake and Lakeview avenues at 3:45 p.m., when she was approached by the man.

First, he asked her if she wanted a ride. After the girl ignored him, the man drove slowly and followed her as she walked south on Lake Avenue, urging her to get in his truck approximately seven times, according to Burnham's report.

The girl became frightened and ran to the Loaf 'N Jug store at 2010 Lake Ave. The truck followed her all the way into the store's parking lot.

She described the stranger who pursued her as a white man in his late 40s or early 50s with “dirty, dishwater-blond hair.” He was thin and wore dark sunglasses.

He drove a lime green Chevrolet pickup manufactured in the late 1960s or early ’70s. It had a split window in the rear and add-on lights in the front.
